D&D 5e Subclass
Druid: Circle of Blight
2014 rules
Druids far and wide maintain the balance of nature and civilization, life and death, growth and decay. Most druids are champions of the wood, guarding the encroaching city lines. A much smaller sect of the druidic practices find it as their duty to safeguard the sanctity of death.
Those that ally themselves with the Circle of Blight find themselves at odds with undead — and indeed any person or structure that has existed longer than they are welcome. Ancient secret methods have been honed to leverage the natural consumptive properties of mushrooms and fungi into an equalizing force.
Sporadic Cloud
2nd-level Circle of Blight feature
As a bonus action, you can expend a spell slot of 1st level or higher to don a cloud of spores with a radius of 10 feet centered on you. The cloud lasts for 10 minutes, and its radius increases by 10 feet for each slot level above 1st.
When you don the cloud, you can designate any number of creatures you can see to be unaffected by it. The cloud affects every other creature within its radius.
A creature affected by the cloud loses resistance to necrotic damage. In addition, if a creature affected by the cloud would regain hit points, it regains half as many, rounded down.
Circle Spells
2nd-level Circle of Blight feature
You gain access to extra spells. The listed spells always count as prepared for you and don't count against the number of spells you can prepare.
| Druid Level | Circle Spells |
|---|---|
| 3rd | detect poison and disease, purify food and drink |
| 5th | feign death, plant growth |
| 7th | blight, locate creature |
| 9th | contagion, reincarnate |
Fungal Aide
6th-level Circle of Blight feature
When you finish a short rest, you can grow a humanoid-shaped mushroom called a tylopiloid. It uses the commoner stat block, except that its creature type is plant. The tylopiloid lasts up to 24 hours before withering away.
The tylopiloid obeys your commands and takes its turn on your initiative. The only action it takes on its turn is the Dodge action, unless you take a bonus action on your turn to command it to take the Dash, Dodge, or Help action.
Once you create a tylopiloid this way, you can't do so again until you finish a long rest.
Bursting Growth
10th-level Circle of Blight feature
You can expend a spell slot of 1st level or higher to make a ranged spell attack with a range of 120/480 ft.
On a hit, the target takes 3d6 bludgeoning damage and 1d10 necrotic damage, and it takes an extra 1d10 necrotic damage for each slot level above 1st. In addition, the target is treated as affected by your Sporadic Cloud.
Petri Dish
14th-level Circle of Blight feature
Your Sporadic Cloud grants you blindsight within its radius. In addition, creatures affected by your cloud can't regain hit points.
When you use your Fungal Aide feature, you can now create four Small, two Medium, or one Large tylopiloid. Only their size changes; their statistics are the same.
Finally, when your Bursting Growth hits a creature, it must make a Constitution saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failed save, a new Sporadic Cloud with a radius of 15 feet is created, centered on that creature. It lasts for 10 minutes.
