A Rambling Tale

Congratulations!

You made it home to your warm and loving family. Nothing interesting will ever have to happen to you. You can take all those dreams of adventure and shove them deep down where you can't find them. You'll occasionally wonder about what might have been, but you'll quickly return to thinking about how your life is the quagmire of mediocrity you deserve. Do your friends actually like you? Probably not. Does your family really respect you? Not if the guilty look on your spouse's face after you come home every day is any indication. You know the worst part? You could still go out right now and be an adventurer. Do something heroic and make the world a better place. But you won't. You won't even sell your worthless; True Value version of a soul for a level in warlock just so you can summon a familiar that has to listen to you ramble on about that book you know you're never going to write. You're too much of a coward for that. You'd rather stay at home and watch your family outgrow you and the let world pass you by.
