A Rambling Tale
You find a riverside town home you can afford in Montaile, while your savings allow you the freedom to pursue a career in whatever you choose.
You take to teaching your heroic skills to those that can afford to learn them. A wealthy merchant brings you to her estate three times a week to train her son. The lad is talented but is also stubborn and rude.
You are ready to quit when the child's tutor stops you and begs you to reconsider. They explain how this young man is acting out due to the doss of his father, an adventurer like you, who fell when questing to slay a dragon to the north.
Stumbling over your words, you assure them that you will not abandon the child's training. The next day, with a better understanding and a renewed motivation, you challenge the boy. Tempting him to vent his frustrations and face his fears. When he is exposed, raw, vulnerable, he is ready to be remolded into a brave adventurer. Like his father. Like you.
Weeks turn to months turn to years. The lad grows into a strong young man with a sharp wit and bold heart. You and the tutor have also grown close. You enter your august years on your own terms, with more than any treasured tomb.
